Imagine a product that would have left Victor Kiam green with envy
– imagine the Vitrinemedia Eco-Smart Display!
I clearly remember back in the late 1970s when, in my late teens and wearing a much younger man’s clothes, I fell upon an advertisement on television featuring a chap named Victor Kiam. He had just bought his first Remington electric shaver and, inspired by the close and clean shave it delivered, he made another altogether larger purchase…the company.
I can still hear his American accent in my ears, telling me – and anyone else who cared to listen – that “I liked the shaver so much I bought the company!”
While I don’t have the financial clout of the late Victor Kiam, I was reminded of his bold sentiments when we received earlier this year our first shipment of Vitrinemedia’s latest entrant in the digital monitor market, the 55-inch 4000-nit Vitrinemedia Eco-Smart Display.
The name gives a hint of what’s on offer…a product that has been on the most exhaustive research and development path for the past five years to ensure that when it was launched in late 2023, it would outshine the rest on every front.
It has lived up to its promise, offering, at 4000-nits, the brightest commercial monitor. It carries the longest warranty and delivers its exceptional luminosity while consuming but a fraction of the energy of competitive – but importantly, less bright – products on the market.
Having also topped the charts when it comes to component recyclability, it comes as no surprise that the Vitrinemedia Eco-Smart Display has been recognised by a respected international audit for greenhouse gas emissions as the greenest product of its kind available today..
Let’s look at the numbers that had my inner Victor Kiam rising and bursting forth…
When comparing the Vitrinemedia 55-inch 4000-nit monitor with the top five competitors – the Samsung, Mitsumaru, HiSense, Philips and LG 55-inch monitors, but all 2500-nit brightness – we see that the Vitrinemedia product, while being 65 percent brighter at 4000-nits, costs just under $6,000 ex GST installed versus similar prices for the Mitsumaru and HiSense monitors and about $6,500 ex GST for the LG and about $7,000 ex GST for the Samsung.
The Vitrinemedia monitor trounces the others with a four-year warranty – as opposed to the three years offered by the competitors – but perhaps the most impressive difference is found in the energy consumption* of the various makes.
Vitrinemedia’s monitor runs on the sniff of the proverbial oily rag, with a power consumption of 220 watts per hour compared with the 490 watts of the most energy hungry, the Samsung, and the 270 watts for the best of the rest, the LG. I hate to sound like a stuck record, but remember, Vitrinemedia’s brightness is 4000 nits against the 2500 nits of the other five.
I’ve taken the comparative analysis a step further, looking at the situation were we to run the six monitors for 24 hours each day, seven days a week and for the full 52 weeks that make up a year. I have also used Australia’s average commercial rate of 30 cents per kilowatt hour.
-2-
The Samsung would leave you with a power bill of $1,297 for the year – and, over the four-year period of the Vitrinemedia warranty – a whopping $5,188. Compare this with Vitrinemedia’s $498 for the year and just $1,992 for the four years. That’s a saving of $3,196 over the four-year period…and while the savings against the others are not as dramatic – $1,884 on the Mitsumaru, $1,364 on the HiSense, $1,152 on the Philips and $840 on the LG – they are nonetheless substantial.
Whichever of the competitive makes you choose, you’re paying a fair bit more – or more or less the same – while sacrificing 1500 nits of brightness and being hit with a heftier energy bill. It just does not make sense to go with anything other than the Vitrinemedia Eco-Smart Display.
Yes, green has never been brighter…and with the Vitrinemedia offering, you’ll be sure to be forever in the black!
Old Victor would be smiling…
